UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM
Why Are we doing this?
After observing a decline in the number of NFTs created on our platform and a surge in the minting and listing of AI-generated images, the Product Manager and I analyzed the data. We discovered that the majority of newly minted and listed NFTs were AI-created from other platforms like Midjourney. This realization presented a challenge for Genadrop: to develop an AI-powered NFT image generator that not only streamlines the creation process but also produces high-quality its images suitable for NFTs.
DATA & METRICS
Leveraging Google Analytics, we meticulously analyzed our platform's performance to uncover insights into user behavior and engagement. Our findings revealed a significant decline in the number of NFTs created on Genadrop, with a staggering 50% decrease observed over the past quarter. and an unexpected increase, amounting to a 80% rise compared to previous periods, prompted further investigation into user preferences and market dynamics.

HYPOTHESIS
We hypothesized that simplifying the image creation process with AI would not only attract more users to the platform but also lead to increased engagement and NFT creation. Furthermore, we anticipated that AI-powered image generation would streamline the NFT creation and sales process, ultimately enhancing the overall user experience on Genadrop.
THE SOLUTION
In collaboration with the Product Manager, we strategically approached the solution by adopting a mobile-first design approach. Recognizing the importance of mobile optimization due to the substantial mobile traffic on Genadrop's website, we prioritized the development of a user interface that seamlessly adapts to various mobile devices.
To address the identified challenges and opportunities effectively, we began by creating initial sketches and prototypes. These prototypes were developed following an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) model, allowing us to prioritize essential features and functionalities while mitigating technological constraints. This approach ensured that we could deliver a streamlined and user-friendly experience to our mobile users, setting the foundation for future iterations and enhancements.
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
Analyzing the landscape of AI-powered image generation tools revealed valuable insights into both strengths and weaknesses across various platforms. Here's what we observed:

Several competitors offer AI-powered image generation features, each with its unique approach and focus. While some prioritize customization options, others emphasize speed and simplicity.

The user interface of existing platforms varies significantly in terms of complexity and intuitiveness. Some platforms provide a clutter-free interface with straightforward controls, while others overwhelm users with a plethora of options and settings.
Image Quality
Quality of generated images varies across platforms, with some producing crisp, high-resolution images and others struggling with artifacts and pixelation.
Customization Options
Competitors offer a range of customization options, including color schemes, styles, and effects. However, the level of control and flexibility provided to users differs significantly among platforms.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
In addition to conducting thorough market research and competitive analysis, we recognized the importance of directly engaging with our user community to gather insights and feedback. Leveraging our Discord community, the Product Manager and I reached out to members to conduct interviews and gather their perspectives on AI-powered image generation for NFTs.
Feedback
Engaging with our Discord community allowed us to solicit feedback and suggestions directly from our users. We facilitated discussions and collected feedback on various aspects of image generation, including desired features, usability concerns, and aesthetic preferences. This direct engagement helped us prioritize features and make informed design decisions based on user input.

ITERATION 1
Iteration 1 explored a more feature-rich approach, offering users a wider range of customization options and controls. This design aimed to cater to users seeking more advanced customization capabilities while still maintaining a user-friendly interface.

ITERATION 2
Iteration 2 focused on simplicity and ease of use, prioritizing a minimalist design with intuitive controls. The interface emphasized quick access to essential features, aiming to streamline the image generation workflow for users.

USER TESTING
To gain further clarity, we conducted multiple tests. One key aspect was understanding the types of images users preferred, whether they leaned towards cartoonish, illustrative, or realistic images. This insight was crucial, as it could influence users' perceptions and their choice of an image generator.
A/B Testing
Both Iteration 1 and Iteration 2 were subjected to rigorous A/B testing to assess user preferences and gather feedback on usability. Through this testing process, we were able to identify strengths and weaknesses of each design, informing our decision-making process for the final interface design. Additionally, we took into consideration the technical constraints faced by our development team, ensuring that the chosen design could be feasibly implemented within our existing framework.
MOCKUPS AND PROTOTYPING
Given that mobile devices account for approximately 70% of our website traffic at Genadrop, our approach centered around mobile-first design, with adaptations made for other platforms. Features such as image description and regeneration were integrated to enhance user control and customization.

Image Description
Here, users can provide detailed descriptions for their desired images. Crafting these descriptions may be challenging for some users, so we've included sample descriptions to offer inspiration and guidance.

Image Regeneration
After successfully generating the image, we introduced a "Regenerate" button. This feature enables users to instantly create a new variation of the image if they are not satisfied with the initial version.

Minting
Upon completion of the image creation process, users are directed to the minting page. Here, they can name the artwork, include a description, and specify attributes before finalizing the minting process.

Development
At Minority Programmers, designers are expected to possess fundamental knowledge of Javascript, HTML, and CSS to ensure seamless integration of designs with the development process. Close collaboration with developers ensured that design decisions aligned with the development environment. The Genadrop website, constructed with React, stored all data on the blockchain, underscoring the importance of a holistic understanding of development processes.
