Introduction

The beauty industry is deeply rooted in visual presentation, prompting the proposal of a new service for the Fresha platform called "After Photos." This innovative addition aims to go beyond the standard appointment scheduling, providing additional value to both salons and clients while generating new revenue streams.

Current Landscape

Despite the optimal performance of the Fresha App, there exists a substantial opportunity to enhance user engagement and revenue. This case study explores the dynamic interplay between evolving visual trends, consumer expectations, and the profound impact of social media on the beauty industry.

Problem

How introducing "After Photos" service, providing professional-quality pictures after hairstyling appointments to meet user needs and create new revenue streams for Fresha.

Outcome

If successfully implemented, would likely involve increased user engagement and revenue generation for Fresha within the beauty industry. Additionally, salons could benefit from enhanced brand visibility and client retention, while clients would enjoy professional photos for social media promotion and personal portfolios.


Objective and Goals

The primary objective is to introduce "After Photos" as a service, capturing professional-quality pictures of clients after their hairstyling appointments. The overarching goals include improving user engagement, addressing user needs, and creating new revenue streams for Fresha.

User Research

To validate this idea that pops in my head, i decided to Conduct my research to understand user needs and preferences related to professional hairstyling photos. Users expressed a significant willingness to pay for hairstyling "after photos," primarily driven by the desire for enhanced self-promotion on social media. The perceived potential for social media growth through professional photos further validated the viability of the proposed feature.

Wireframe and Prototyping

The design process involved the visualization of the service's layout and functionality through wireframes. Through iterative prototyping, adjustments were made based on valuable user feedback, ensuring optimal usability.

Incorporating chosen visual design elements, the "After Photos" feature aligns seamlessly with Fresha's existing design language. The emphasis was on creating a visually cohesive and appealing experience for users.

Benefits for All

If adopted this additional feature will be of benefits to the three tiers of users of the Fresha app.

Salons

Salons stand to benefit significantly from the "After Photos" feature, enhancing the overall client experience through the capture of professional photos. These photos serve as user-generated content (UGC) for social media marketing at no additional cost, thereby increasing brand visibility and attracting new clients through captivating visuals. By providing clients with their photos via email or WhatsApp, salons can build a reachable customer base of returning clients, complemented by monthly newsletters focusing on hair health.

Clients

Clients, in turn, have the opportunity to document their new hairstyles through professional photos. These high-quality pictures can be shared on social media to boost engagement and serve as valuable content for personal portfolios or style inspiration. Additionally, contributing to the salon's online presence and community building becomes an intrinsic part of the client experience.

The adoption of the "After Photos" feature enhances the value proposition for salons and opens avenues for new partnerships. It strengthens the platform's stickiness by offering unique and sought-after services, setting it apart from competitors.
